Chisasibi's Margaret Grace Orr – painter, sculptor, performance artist, printmaker and writer – has been practicing art since she was a child. In addition, she presents workshops and lectures in schools. The main inspiration of Margaret's art was her mother. While other sources of inspiration include Rembrant and Van Gogh, as well as Daphne Odjig and other Native artists, Margaret also enjoys the outdoors and is concerned about the destruction of the environment.
Margaret earned a degree in fine arts at CEGEP, a bachelor of fine arts in Indian arts, and a certificate in indigeneous creative writing. Her art has been exhibited in two solo exhibitions: Traces, which was held in Sakewak, Regina; and Emerging, held in the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Society Club Gallery; as well as in numerous group shows in Quebec, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
