Notes: Speck's notes (NMAI, Smithsonian Box OC 120,#1) for this object read: "beaded ornament symbolizing a 'feather.' These are worn on the caps by men when they are dressed up. (The Penobscot had a similar ornament made of wampum...This must have been an ancient Algonkian ornament to have survived in two such distant areas.)."
